Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois will host “Visit Our Fantastic Forest” from 9 a.m.–12 Noon on Saturday, September 13, at Camp Far Horizons, 9702 S. Lost Horizon Road, in Hanover. Girl Scout troops, families, and the public are welcome to visit Camp Far Horizons and enjoy a leisurely walk through nature. There will also be a geocaching scavenger hunt and hands-on activities for the whole family! Experts will be on hand to talk about healthy forest management and native plant species and to lead participants in invasive species removal.

Girl Scouts of the USA is looking for photographs of girls taken inside or outside the White House, as well as pictures of Girl Scouts with military men and women dressed in uniform. Photographs submitted need to be original, high-res photographs (rather than low-res images downloaded from the Internet or Facebook), 300 dpi, and a minimum of 1500 x 2100 px. Images submitted will be used for a convention video and potentially for general social media use and other general print needs. It's time for Camp Service Days, again! The goal  is to assist in preparing the camps for the winter by storing away summer equipment. Assisting at Camp Service Day is rewarded with a free night in a tent unit and ½ price for a lodge for one night. Deposit is still required but will be refunded following normal procedures.

Today, Thin Mint Sprint Committee Member, Kristen N. Campbell shares what to expect while running races that are part of this year's 10th Annual Thin Mint Sprint.

 

What to expect when running the Trail Run:
1. Running, walking, climbing, jumping
2. Gravel, dirt and grass trail
3. Possible deer
4. Very large hills up AND down
5. Beautiful scenery and views of Camp
6. Water station strategically placed after very large UP hill
7. Smack in the face from a branch
8. High five from everyone that finished!
