GSNI Co-Sponsors Community Holiday Toy Giveaway

It’s time to make the holidays a happy time for thousands of children in need! The Elgin Community Holiday Toy Giveaway will be held at Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin, on Wednesday, December 18, with setup on Tuesday, December 17. Girl Scouts can help in several ways!
Donate Toys
Troops are encouraged to consider hosting a toy drive. Troops can deliver toys to the Elgin Service Center from November 18–December 16. Toys must be new, with a suggested price range of $10–$30, and should not be wrapped. For a toy suggestion list, click here. If troops are not from the Elgin or South Elgin area, they are still welcome to donate, or they may connect with a toy drive in their location.
Volunteers, ages 16 or older, are also needed to help at the event. Bilingual volunteers (Spanish/English) are desperately needed to help parents register or shop the day of the Toy Giveaway. To volunteer, call 847-742-4088, Ext. 304 (Toy Giveaway line), or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Shifts for set-up on December 17 are 12–3 p.m. and 3–6 p.m. Shifts for the giveaway on December 18 are 8:30–11:30 a.m., 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m., 1–3:30 p.m., 3–5:30 p.m., and 5–7 p.m.
During the past decade, this community-sponsored event has provided thousands of toys to children in the Elgin area! Last year, with Girl Scout assistance, the Toy Giveaway helped collect new toys and funds allowing the distribution of approximately 6,000 toys to 2,800 children from over 1,000 families in need. Those numbers are expected to increase this year. Share joy this holiday season by remembering children of less fortunate families!
